Wedding Vows Ceremony

Groom and Bribe
On behalf of the bride and groom, it is my privilege to say a personal word of salutation. You are special in their hearts and in their lives, and they are honored, that you have made the effort to be here, to share in this tremendous celebration of love, and to hold them accountable before God.
With great joy, we come together in the presence our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in the company of these witnesses to celebrate joining together of this man (groom’s name) and this woman (bride’s name) as one flesh in Holy Matrimony. God’s words are the authority behind a marriage, it is to be honorable among all, and therefore it is not to be entered into lightly, without sound advice. Marriage is a reverent act before God, sanctifying the Marriage as one man and one woman cleaving together as one flesh. Your presence here today indicates your desire to establish a martial relationship, and we ask God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ to bless this occasion with His presence and to pave the way for this couple to be blessed with His Love, Grace, and Mercy.
Who gives this woman to be the bride of this man?
Response
Prayer
What is a marriage according to God:
Theophilus-God’s Love-1 John 4:1-19
Hesed- I am sticking with you love no matter what ---- agape love
God Is Love
1Jn 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
1Jn 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1Jn 4:9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
1Jn 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1Jn 4:12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
1Jn 4:13 By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
1Jn 4:14 We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to bethe Savior of the world.
1Jn 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
1Jn 4:17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love, because He first loved us.
Wedding Vows by John Mitchell founder Multnomah Bible School
We are glad that (groom’s name) and (bride’s name) have taken the Lord Jesus Christ to be their personal savior, and it is God’s purpose that He brought them together that they may be a testimony for him.
You are entering a new phase of your life; our desire for you is that you make God the first priority of your life. To consult Him every step of the way, to seek His face in every test; to trust Him in every day, to live in the light of His presence and meet daily together at the throne of grace.
You will find (groom’s name) that because (bride’s name) gives you her life, her love, herself, all that she is and can be, to be yours and yours alone, forever, this is the finest gift that can be given to a man. Your responsibility (groom’s name) is to be for (bride’s name) sake the finest God fearing, trusting, and loving man you can be, so that you are worthy of her love and honor.
And you (bride’s name) will find the same sort of thing because (groom’s name) gives you his name, his honor, his love, his life, himself, all that he is and can be, to be yours and yours alone forever. This is your crowning gift. Your responsibility (bride’s name) is to be the most Godlike partner you can be.
Now as you pledge your vows to each other, may you mean everything that you say. May you hold each other accountable unto God and receive love and happiness for the rest of your days.
Pastor Dennis Christianson Wedding Vows Happy Home Community Church
(groom’s name) and (bride’s name), you have learned to respect each other’s point of views, to share your thoughts and experiences with each other, to cherish intimacy and understanding that comes with the passage of time. You rejoice that your love continually redefines itself, you come together willingly today as distinct, growing individuals in Christ, each loving the other in truth, each sound in spirit, each free to explore the dimensions of life in the spirit of unity, cooperation, and trust.
Do you, (groom’s name) take (bride’s name), to be your lawfully wedded wife. Do you promise to face the future by her side, in reverence of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit? Do you promise to honor her, to respect her, to love and cherish her, and to strive to learn daily about her and your life together? Do you, (groom’s name) promise to bring (bride’s name) affection and cheer, understanding and companionship. Will you be the spiritual leader of your house and the source of her strength? Exchange of Rings
Giving and receiving of rings is rich in spiritual lessons of marriage. They speak of acceptance, trust, purity, and love. As a sign and symbol of your commitment to each other, you have each selected a ring. The ring is one of the signs of marriage in our culture. The ring is an outward sign of an inward devotion; it tells the world that you are taken, just as baptism tells the world you are Christ’s. A ring is much more than a piece of jewelry or a mere ornamental trinket; it is a covenant between husband, wife, and God. It represents your vows and commitment to each other, given under God’s authority. It symbolizes what you are saying to each other today and each day forward for the rest of your lives.
The ring is an expression of the purity of the love you give to each other and will keep for each other. The ring is a circle, never starting and never ending. This ring is a symbol of the fact that you pledge before God and these witnesses a love that is endless and eternal.
These rings represent the authority and power in an extraordinary manner. God has given you, in your home, authority, and power as husband and wife, keepers of the home and givers of life as God directs.
These rings tell a special story of the commitments you have made to each other and unto God. I pray that these rings will be a reminder to you of these truths and your commitment. That you will always and forever, love each other as you love God, with all your heart, with all your souls and all your minds. That these rings will be a testimony of your faithfulness to the vows you have made today and it is rooted in Deuteronomy.
Deu 6:4 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!
Deu 6:5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Deu 6:6 "These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.
Deu 6:7 "You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Deu 6:8 "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
(groom’s name) what did you bring as a token of your love for (bride’s name)?
(Groom’s response) A ring
Please take the ring which you have selected and put it on the wedding figure of (bride’s name) and say these words to her:
With this ring, I thee wed, and take you to be my wife
I give to you, all my love, and devotion as a token in our mutual vows
And my love for you and for God.
My love for you had a beginning,
But by Gods grace, It will never have an end.
(bride’s name) what did you bring as a token of your love for (groom’s name)
(Bride’s Response) A ring.
Please take the ring which you have selected and put it on the wedding figure of (groom’s name) and say these words to him:
With this ring, I thee wed, and take you to be my husband.
I give to you, to wear with joy,
Showing my everlasting devotion to you and God.
This wedding band is to remind you every day of my absolute love for you.
Prayer over the marriage while placing hands on Bride and Groom
“Our Father who art in Heaven, we ask you bless and bind together (groom’s name) and (bride’s name) marriage, that their souls shall cleave as one. That they will love each other with all their hearts, souls, and minds and their marriage together might reflect the very image of You, Heavenly Father. We pray this in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.” Amen
May the peace of Christ live you always, in your hearts and in your home. May you have true friends and church body to stand by you, both in joy and sorrow. May you be ready and willing to help and comfort all who come to you in need, blessing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I have heard it said before, “When you share a joy, it is doubled, when you share a sorrow, it is halved.” We promise as a community to support you with our prayers, love, and actions. We hold each other accountable to God for what happens in your marriage, vowing always to support each of you in your walk together for Christ. May the Love of God always be with you both, in Jesus name, Amen!
